Resin Luminous Characters Mainly Have The Following Production Processes:

Nov 15, 2024

1. Design and Layout

- According to customer requirements, use professional design software (such as CorelDRAW, Photoshop) to design the font, size, shape and layout of the luminous characters. The installation location and environment should be taken into consideration to determine the appropriate size ratio and visual effect.

2. Mold Making

- Material Preparation: Silicone is usually chosen to make molds. Silicone has good flexibility and demoulding properties, which can ensure the quality of the molds.
- Molding Process: Make a physical model of the designed font pattern through carving, 3D printing or other methods, and then evenly apply or pour silicone around the physical model. Wait for the silicone to solidify to form the mold. The quality of the mold directly affects the precision and appearance quality of the resin luminous characters.

3. Resin Mixing

- Raw Material Selection: Transparent epoxy resin is selected as the main material, which has the advantages of high transparency and resistance to yellowing. Meanwhile, a curing agent needs to be added, and the two need to be mixed in an accurate proportion. The proportion of resin and curing agent of different brands may vary, generally ranging from 2:1 to 3:1.
- Color Mixing: According to the design requirements, add an appropriate amount of color paste to mix the resin color. The color mixing process needs to be carried out carefully. Stir while adding and observe the color change to ensure that the color is uniform.

4. Resin Pouring

- Pouring Operation: Slowly pour the mixed resin into the mold. Try to avoid generating bubbles during the pouring process. Some methods can be adopted to eliminate bubbles, such as using a vacuum defoaming machine or gently guiding the flow on the resin surface with a thin wooden stick to let the bubbles escape.
- Filling Skills: If the luminous characters are relatively thick, it may be necessary to pour the resin in multiple times to ensure that the resin completely fills the mold and there are no voids inside. The thickness of each pouring should not be too thick, generally about 3 - 5 millimeters.

5. Solidification and Shaping

- Environmental Control: The poured resin needs to solidify in an appropriate temperature and humidity environment. Generally, it is more appropriate to keep the temperature at 20 - 25 degrees Celsius. The solidification time depends on the type and amount of resin, usually requiring 24 - 48 hours.
- Post-treatment: During the solidification process, pay attention to checking whether the resin surface is flat. If there is any unevenness, use tools to gently scrape or fill it when the resin has not completely solidified.

6. Installation of Light Sources

- Light Source Selection: LED lights are mainly used as light sources. LED lights have different colors, brightness and sizes to choose from. Select appropriate LED beads or light strips according to the size and lighting requirements of the luminous characters.
- Installation Method: After the resin is solidified and shaped, install the LED light source inside the character shell. It can be installed by pasting, fixing with slots and other methods. During the installation process, pay attention to the even layout of the light source to ensure that the luminous characters emit light evenly.

7. Assembly and Testing

- Assembly of Components: If the luminous characters have multiple parts, such as strokes of the characters, decorative parts, etc., assemble them together. Ensure that the connection is tight and there are no gaps.
- Electrical Testing: Connect the power supply and test the lighting situation of the luminous characters, including brightness, color, uniformity, etc. Check whether there are electrical problems such as short circuits and leakage. If any problems are found, make timely adjustments and repairs.
